Quiz: do you know your rights?

Question 1 of 6

Up to what age is a person a child, according to the Convention on the Rights of the Child?

Values for growing up well

Helping each other

Helping a friend who is struggling, carrying a younger child's bag: together, we are stronger.

Respect

Saying hello, thank you and please. Listening to others, even when we don't agree.

Sharing

Sharing your snack or your games makes two people happy instead of one.

Honesty

Telling the truth, even when it is hard. That is how we earn other people's trust.

A short story: Mabiala's mango

Mabiala had found a beautiful mango under the tree in the yard. He wanted to eat it all by himself, in secret. But then he saw his friend Ngoma sitting in the shade. She had not eaten anything since the morning.

He hesitated, then cut the mango in two. Ngoma smiled so widely that Mabiala burst out laughing. The next day, it was Ngoma who shared her peanuts with him.

What about you? Tell us about a time you shared something. How did you feel?

My 5 rules for staying safe

  1. 1My body belongs to me: nobody has the right to touch it if I don't want them to.
  2. 2I don't keep a secret that scares me or makes me sad: I talk about it with an adult I trust.
  3. 3On the internet, I never give my name, my address or my photo to a stranger.
  4. 4I never go anywhere with a stranger, even if they promise me a present.
  5. 5If someone hurts me, it is not my fault. I have the right to ask for help.
